My memories of Great-Grandpa Holley

This post is by Maxwell Irvine.

I have many memories of Great-Grandpa, so I'm just going to put down a few.

*I love when he does "The Hat Trick". (He blows on his thumb and his hat levitates.
*It's fun to pick corn with him.
*I love when he tells us stories from when he was young.
*I like to watch football with him and my dad.🏈
*He loves it when I play piano for him.🎶
*He gives us a lot of chocolate. Haha!

Karlie's Memories

I have many memories of Grandpa and Grandma.  I feel very blessed to have such examples of righteousness in my life for so many years and that my own children have been blessed to know their great grandparents.

As you all know, Grandma was very faithful when it came to writing in her journal.  She would often try to get me to write a few things when I would visit her as a child.  As an incentive, she bought me a pretty Hello Kitty journal.  She would sit me down at the family table and put me to work.  I have not been very good at keeping a regular journal over the years, but this year one of my goals has been to write a little something each day and I haven't missed a day since I started January 2nd.  I can imagine Grandma would be proud of that and maybe see that her hard work had eventually paid off.

I loved the warm, beautiful days of summer at their old brown house.  I spent many happy summers there picking grapes, picking raspberries (which Grams would put into cream and sugar for us), climbing trees and playing in the barn.  Grandpa would sometimes give us rides on the tractor and I remember when he had that dog, Sham, and how well he had him trained.  Sometimes Grandpa would flood the yard and Grams would put small cut pieces of 2x4's in the water and we pretended they were alligators and tried not to let them touch our feet or legs. Do you remember those "wiggly snakes" Grandma used to buy?  I found some of those on Amazon a while back and they brought back memories of playing with them at their house.

I will add more when I have a little more time.  I hope you will add your own memories soon.

Introduction

I've started this blog as an easy way for you to share your memories of Sharon and Orvil for the family to enjoy.  As we met at Grandma's grave on Memorial Day and heard stories of her life, I realized that there were things I have never heard about her before. We all have our own memories and recollections of certain events. I'd like this to be a place where we can each contribute something that will help to enhance our family history. Please attach your name to the memory so we can be sure to know who has submitted it.  I look forward to reading about all of the wonderful things our family has to share.
